Many visitors would like to know whether children (teens, kids, toddlers, babies) can go to Gellert Spa.
1. Babies / Toddlers
Babies who are not potty trained are not allowed in the pools in Gellert Spa, even if they are wearing a swimming nappy. It mostly applies to children under the age of 3. Babies and toddlers can come with the family to the Spa, but need to stay outside the pool area with somebody.
Please note that most of the pools and baths (both outdoor and indoor) at Gellert Spa are more than 33 degrees Celsius, resulting in increased stress for the cardiovascular system of children. Their bodies are not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the warm waters perfectly.
2. Children Under 14 years of age
Children over 14 are welcome to the Spa, but for kids under 14 years of age the pools are not recommended. Should the parents decide to visit Gellert Spa despite this, families may arrive with children at their own responsibility.
3. Baths for Families
Gellert Spa was, and is still aimed at adults, therefore we suggest families with children visit of the open air pool parks in Budapest, especially Palatinus Pools on Margaret Island and Dagaly Lido close to Arpad Bridge (north of Margaret Island).
Both these lidos are very close to the city center with lots of fun pools aimed for children, plus they also have thermal pools for the parents too.
Both Palatinus and Dagaly are surrounded by green areas and perfect places for a fun volleyball, Frisbee competition for the family members. Therefore, well-known natural thermal waters of Budapest can be enjoyed by the whole family, without the need of making a compromise.
On the contrary, there are no slides, shallow toddler pools in Gellert Spa and it is not allowed to throw balls in the pools, either. The area of the pool side is covered with stone panels and not with green grass making it less child friendly.
The baths, saunas, and pools in Gellert Spa have been designed for adults and of course, for patients who have been prescribed aqua therapy, balneotherapy, etc. for some medical condition.
Generally, kids under 14 are not allowed to use the thermal baths, while children over 14 can use the thermal baths but for only a short period of time.
Please note that as a parent it is your responsibility if you decide to bring children to the baths. Try to enjoy the best bath facilities Budapest can offer for children and families at one of our lidos (Palatinus, Dagaly, Csillaghegyi, Romai, Paskal, etc.)
You can also visit Gellert Spa for a short bath tour for a reasonable price. Please check our price list for Gellert Spa
Hi, we are a family of 6 (two of them are 7 and 11) and would like to come on Friday for a few hours. I have a few questions:
1. What is the price for a few hours visit (with lockers)?
2. Do you have a regular pool where we can just swim?
3. Are the prices of the 7 and 11 year old the same as the adult prices?
Thank you!
