Gellert Baths: Mixed Pools / Saunas

Since January 1, 2013 Gellert Baths has been turned into a completely co-educated spa bath, where all the pools, steams, thermal facilities are open to women and men alike. Toilets and Shower rooms continue to be male and female only. If you wish to visit a thermal bath in Budapest where gender separated areas are available (mostly men only days on weekdays) you can visit Rudas Baths.

Gellert Spa Bath at Night

If you wish to use the thermal pools and bath facilities in the evening in Gellert Spa, you are welcome to stay in the building until 7 pm (pools need to be left 30 minutes before closing time).

For late night bath experience, you can visit Szechenyi Bath, whose outdoor pools (2 hot spring thermal pools and 1 cooler swimming pool) is open until 10 pm.

Gellert Spa & Thermal Baths on Public Holidays

If your Budapest visit is scheduled on a public holiday / national holiday in Hungary, do not despair, Szent Gellert Furdo is open even on holidays, in the last few years almost 365 days a year!
Please check the current opening hours for the upcoming public holidays, March 15, Easter, August 20, October 23, November 1, Christmas and New Year times before your planned Budapest visit). The general rule of thumb is that the opening hours might be slightly shorter (or the same as every day), but the ticket prices are like on weekends (somewhat more expensive than on weekdays).

  1. Hello!
We are planning to visit the gellert spa between 26 and 30 December 2019
What are the opening times ?
    Thanks

  2. Hi! Are you out of tickets for the 26/27 December

    • Hi Jashleen,
Thank you for your inquiry about services between Dec 24, 2019, and Jan 7, 2020, in the baths.
Due to the high number of visitors during the festive winter days, the thermal baths’ managerial decision was made that no fast track entries or cabins (changing cubicles) are sold during these days.

On 26th December 2019, on the date of your visit, guests will be checked in on a first-come-first-served basis. As long queues are expected there may be some lines waiting in the cold. Please find more details, advice and other thermal bath alternatives on the following link: BathsBudapest.com/Dec
Enjoy the thermal baths in winter Budapest and explore some more if it is not your first visit in the city.

  3. Hi,

I am trying to book a ticket for the 6th of January and it appears blanked out. Is there anyway I can book an advance ticket?

    Thank you,

    Rachael

    • Hi Rachel,

Thank you for your inquiry about services between Dec 24, 2019, and Jan 7, 2020 in the baths.
Due to the high number of visitors during the festive winter days, the thermal baths’ managerial decision was made that no fast track entries or cabins (changing cubicles) are sold during these days.
Guests of day time visit -in your case on 6th Jan, 2020- will be checked in on a first-come-first-served basis. We kindly suggest that you go to the spa early in order to secure your entry.

Have a nice rest of the evening!

  4. Hi! I am visiting Budapest with my family from the 4th to the 7th of January. There are no online tickets available. Are you open those days? Will it be possible to buy a ticket there?

    Thank you!

    • Dear Elisabete,
Thank you for your inquiry about services between Dec 24, 2019, and Jan 07, 2020 in the baths. While we normally would recommend online bookings to secure your appointments or entries, during the Winter Festive Season (Christmas and New Year – Dec 24 – Jan 7) the city attracts half a million extra tourists, which makes online fast track tickets to Szechenyi Baths and Gellert Spa simply non-fast track, and ticket holders are often held back in the – otherwise peaceful and expectant – crowds gathering around the entrances. Hence the managerial decision was made that no fast track entries, cabins (changing cubicles) and massages are sold during the festive days, with the notable exception of the pre-NYE night party tickets, which will be bookable for December 30 as usual in Szechenyi Baths.
Guests of day time visit will be checked in on a first-come-first-served basis. Unfortunately, we expect long queues due to the increased demand, even long lines in the cold. Please find more details, advice and other thermal bath alternatives on the following link: BathsBudapest.com/Dec

Thank you for your kind cooperation. Enjoy the thermal baths in Budapest and explore some more if it is not your first visit in the city.

  5. My husband and I are staying at the Gellert Hotel in April, are there any advantages to booking from the hotel and are there any discounts.
    Regards

    • Dear Karen,
As hotel guests, you are entitled to a 30% discount from the entry tickets to the Spa, which you can validate at the reception. Please note that the discount does not apple to online bought tickets.
Should you have further questions, please contact us.

  6. Hi guys!

I’d like to book two tickets for 12.02, but we plan to come in really early (around 7 am).
In the booking form there is a field that says “I’ll check in 9am – 5.30pm, can stay till 8pm if I wish”.
Does it mean I cannot buy a ticket for any earlier time than 9 am online? Will it be possible to buy it on site?

    Thanks!

    • Hi Maria,

      Thank you for your comment.

Indeed, with the online Fast Track Entry Tickets entry is possible from 9 am. If you wish to enter the spa earlier, you can get the daily, standard tickets on the spot upon arrival (subject to availability).

We wish you a great time in the Gellert Spa in Budapest!

    • Dear Maria,
Online fast track tickets are valid from 9 am until 6 pm. If you wish to visit the Spa earlier, please buy your tickets on the spot.
      Have a lovely day.
