Gellert Spa is one of the most famous thermal spa baths in Europe, and one of the leading natural hot spring spa baths in Budapest, Hungary
Dear Guests,
Kindly note that Gellért Spa is currently closed due to a major restoration project. Based on current information, the spa is expected to reopen in 2028, however the exact reopening date has not yet been officially confirmed.
In the meantime, we would kindly recommend visiting another bath in Budapest, such as Szechenyi Bath or Palatinus Bath & Lido as an alternative option.
Gellert thermal pools, swimming pool, outdoor pool and spa treatments offer a great relaxation and entertainment all year round. Visit Gellert Spa Bath and experience high quality relaxation at a fraction of the costs you would pay in any western country.
Gellert Bath opened in 1918 offering medicinal water treatments using the same deep underground springs the Knights of St John used in the 12th century, and later on the Turks to feel the invigorating powers of the mineral rich waters.
Gellert Spa by River Danube Budapest
Gellert Spa is situated by the river Danube where panoramic boats carry passengers by day and by night. The building of the thermal bath is one of the many beautiful riverside attractions along the river in Budapest. To see available boat tours in the city you can check Budapest river cruise programmes and their daily timetables.
Come and visit our favourite bath in Budapest besides Szechenyi Baths: Gellert Spa Bath is the true gem of the thermal baths where you can easily spend a day, explore the numerous pools, get luxury treatments without having to feel crowded by other tourists. Spa and elegance await you in the Art Nouveau building of the almost hundred year old Gellert Bath.
Gellert Spa is famous for its lovely warm spring water pools, its architecture, its landscape, and also for its spa treatments, and pampering massage therapies at reasonable prices.
Gellert Spa Bath – Outdoor Pool
Kindly note that the outdoor pool at Gellert Spa & Thermal Bath—formerly the iconic wave pool featuring not only Budapest’s or Europe’s, but the world’s first artificial wave machine from 1927—has a gradually deepening design, ranging from shallow areas that may be suitable for younger visitors, to significantly deeper sections on the opposite end. – Temperature: 26°C, Water depth: 0.40 m – 2.75 m.
While the outdoor pool is typically open from the end of May through September, it may occasionally require maintenance on short notice. For this reason, we strongly recommend checking availability on the day of your visit, either at the entrance or with staff on site, as access to this pool cannot always be guaranteed.

Dear Rony,

Have a lovely time in the Spa!
Hello, i’m looking to bring my friend here for a massage on her birthday in august, is it possible that we both get the aroma gentle massage at the same time in the same room or would we need to go separately?
Also what is a cabin?
Hello Emily,
The cabin is like a tiny room or cubicle. with the size of approx. that of a dressing room in a clothes shop.
The door of the cabin has a unique chip code lock, which opens and closes with a special waterproof bracelet: in fact, with the chip incorporated in the wristband bath entry provided at the bath. Please make sure that your door is locked with the silicon wristband before leaving the cabin. As you are wearing the band all the times, it is quite secure if you make sure that the door is not left open.
The 20 min massage rooms are much smaller than the 50 and 70 min massage rooms. Unfortunately, it is not possible to get a 20 min long double massage.
You can enjoy the 50 or 70 min massages in the same room.
Hope we can welcome you at Gellert Spa!
I want to visit with my 10 YeaR old daughter is this possible.?
Hello Yvonne,
as the thermal waters are not recommended for younger children, we invite you to read our FAQs about children on the link below:

Dear Jose,
thank you, meanwhile we have received your confirmation on receiving your Tickets. Unfortunately it was a misspelled email address on your booking form.
Enjoy your time in the Spa!
Hi there,
I have booked for Sunday 7th May at 12pm for 2 people in the private spa. I haven’t received any email confirmation yet. Will I be getting this soon?
Many thanks,
Zoe
Dear Zoe,
yes we have contacted you in email.
We are looking to come to Gellert Spa on Sunday 30th April, we are a group of 10, would we need to book in advance or will there be space if we just turn up on the day?
Hello Rosie,
you can purchase your tickets on the spot, however, we recommend the online Fast Track tickets, so you can skip the main queue and check in at the HelpDesk.
If you are planning to get a massage treatment as well, please book online, as the massages are usually booked up in advance.
Hope we can welcome you at Gellert Spa!
