Gellert Spa is one of the most famous thermal spa baths in Europe, and one of the leading natural hot spring spa baths in Budapest, Hungary
Dear Guests,
Kindly note that Gellért Spa is currently closed due to a major restoration project. Based on current information, the spa is expected to reopen in 2028, however the exact reopening date has not yet been officially confirmed.
In the meantime, we would kindly recommend visiting another bath in Budapest, such as Szechenyi Bath or Palatinus Bath & Lido as an alternative option.
Gellert thermal pools, swimming pool, outdoor pool and spa treatments offer a great relaxation and entertainment all year round. Visit Gellert Spa Bath and experience high quality relaxation at a fraction of the costs you would pay in any western country.
Gellert Bath opened in 1918 offering medicinal water treatments using the same deep underground springs the Knights of St John used in the 12th century, and later on the Turks to feel the invigorating powers of the mineral rich waters.
Gellert Spa by River Danube Budapest
Gellert Spa is situated by the river Danube where panoramic boats carry passengers by day and by night. The building of the thermal bath is one of the many beautiful riverside attractions along the river in Budapest. To see available boat tours in the city you can check Budapest river cruise programmes and their daily timetables.
Come and visit our favourite bath in Budapest besides Szechenyi Baths: Gellert Spa Bath is the true gem of the thermal baths where you can easily spend a day, explore the numerous pools, get luxury treatments without having to feel crowded by other tourists. Spa and elegance await you in the Art Nouveau building of the almost hundred year old Gellert Bath.
Gellert Spa is famous for its lovely warm spring water pools, its architecture, its landscape, and also for its spa treatments, and pampering massage therapies at reasonable prices.
Gellert Spa Bath – Outdoor Pool
Kindly note that the outdoor pool at Gellert Spa & Thermal Bath—formerly the iconic wave pool featuring not only Budapest’s or Europe’s, but the world’s first artificial wave machine from 1927—has a gradually deepening design, ranging from shallow areas that may be suitable for younger visitors, to significantly deeper sections on the opposite end. – Temperature: 26°C, Water depth: 0.40 m – 2.75 m.
While the outdoor pool is typically open from the end of May through September, it may occasionally require maintenance on short notice. For this reason, we strongly recommend checking availability on the day of your visit, either at the entrance or with staff on site, as access to this pool cannot always be guaranteed.

Hello, how would I go about booking a red wine bath in a private room? I couldn’t see any options for that when I went to book.
Thanks
Hello Sarah,
unfortunately, the red wine bath is not bookable on our website.
We have contacted you via email.
Have a nice stay in Budapest!
Hello,
As other customers, I have just bought tickets via Paypal (reservation for Tuesday 15th of August) but I haven’t received my tickets.
I have only received a Paypal receipt just after booking, but there is no date confirmation, so it is not a confirmation booking nor a fast track ticket.
There is nothing in my spam folder ….
So what’s wrong with your online bookings ?
Please could you send me the tickets quickly ?
Regards
C.HUBERT
We have a reservation for tomorrow and only received a Paypal receipt yesterday after booking but not the tickets. Please we are going at mid-day so if you could send me the tickets early im the morning will be all right
Dear Montserrat,
I would like to confirm that we have received your booking and the auto confirmation has been sent to your given email address, but we keep getting an automatic message that you are out of the office until the August 25th.
We have already re-sent the confirmation from our backup email address too. Please check your spam folder too.
Could you please let us know if you have received it this time?
Thank you for your kind cooperation.
Enjoy your visit at Gellert spa!
Hello,
I’v just bought tickets via Paypal but i haven’t received my tickets nor I haven’t received a confirmation mail (except from paypal informing me that the payment have been made).
Could you tell me what is the next step ?
Thank you ?
Julien
Dear Julien, in the meantime you have received the tickets, so all I have to say is enjoy your visit at Gellert Spa!
Hello,
I’d like to know if we could come without booking? or will it be full very quickly?
Dear Melanie,
you can buy your tickets on the spot at the cashiers too. Online tickets are fast track entries, so you do not need to queue at the cashiers.
Should you like to book a massage we would recommend to book it in advance online, as massage hours are limited, and the timetable of the massages fills up very quickly, and it is not very likely that you can book a massage for the same day on the spot.
Hello
I would like to book «Gellert Spa Ticket and Cabin » or «Gellert Spa Ticket and Locker ». What is the difference between Cabin and Locker ? Is there a locker in the cabin in order to store our clothes and personal belongings ?
Moreover, we are 2 adults and 2 children (15 and 11 years old). Is the Gellert Spa authorized for the children ? Is it the same entry fee for adults and children ?
Is the Gellert Spa crowded in August ? Especially in the evening (17 :00 pm) ? Is there a long wait to buy tickets on the spot ?
Thanks in advance for your answer,
Best regards,
C. Hubert
Hello Hubert,
The cabin size is approx. that of a dressing room in a clothes shop, so you can change there and store your belongings.
The door of the cabin has a unique chip code lock, which opens and closes with a special waterproof bracelet: in fact, with the chip incorporated in the wristband bath entry provided at the bath. Please make sure that your door is locked with the silicon wristband before leaving the cabin. As you are wearing the band all the times, it is quite secure if you make sure that the door is not left open.
The size of the locker is 120x30x65 cm (1200 x 300 x 650 mm), and you can use the public changing rooms to get changed.
The lockers are also opened and closed by your wristband.
Unfortunately, there is no different pricing for children. As the thermal waters are not recommended for younger children, please read our FAQ’s about children at Gellert Spa.
The summer months are usually very busy at the baths, so we suggest the online bookings, so you can skip the main queue at the cashiers and check in at our HelpDesk.
You can also buy your tickets on the spot upon arrival at the cashiers.
Enjoy your holiday in Budapest!
