Gellert Spa is one of the most famous thermal spa baths in Europe, and one of the leading natural hot spring spa baths in Budapest, Hungary
Gellert thermal pools, swimming pool, wave pool and spa treatments offer a great relaxation and entertainment all year round. Visit Gellert Spa Bath and experience high quality relaxation at a fraction of the costs you would pay in any western country.
Gellert Bath opened in 1918 offering medicinal water treatments using the same deep underground springs the Knights of St John used in the 12th century, and later on the Turks to feel the invigorating powers of the mineral rich waters.
Gellert Spa is situated by the river Danube where panoramic boats carry passengers by day and by night. The building of the thermal bath is one of the many beautiful riverside attractions along the river in Budapest. To see available boat tours in the city you can check Budapest river cruise programmes and their daily timetables.
Come and visit our favourite bath in Budapest besides Szechenyi Baths: Gellert Spa Bath is the true gem of the thermal baths where you can easily spend a day, explore the numerous pools, get luxury treatments without having to feel crowded by other tourists. Spa and elegance await you in the Art Nouveau building of the almost hundred year old Gellert Bath.
Gellert Spa is famous for its lovely warm spring water pools, its architecture, its landscape, and also for its spa treatments, and pampering massage therapies at reasonable prices.

Hello, when will the reconstruction take approximately? thanks a lot
Hello Jan,
I am afraid the opening date is not confirmed yet for 2020.
We recommend you select a different bath or lido until the spa re-opens. Please find more Budapest Baths on the following page: http://www.bathsbudapest.com/szechenyi-bath
Have a nice holiday in Budapest!
Hi,
We are a family from Sweden who are visiting Budapest for the UEFA Euro and have match tickets. Is it possible for is to use your facility?
Best regards, Charlotte Krantz
Hello Charlotte,
Thank you for contacting us. At the moment, the policy highlights that visitors will need to present a valid Covid passport from a country given the green status by the HU government. Although Sweden is not on the list yet, if you have a valid UEFA ticket you can visit the baths.
In general, the entry requirements for the thermal baths in Budapest is as follows:
visitors are to have a valid immunity card issued by the HU government or any of the countries accepted by the HU government, momentarily, mostly South-Eastern European countries including Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Moldova etc. as well as Turkey and Bahrain). The full list of countries whose Covid passport has reached the point of mutual acceptance in the intergovernmental negotiations can be seen here (update on 30th May): https://koronavirus.gov.hu/cikkek/vedettsegi-igazolvanyok-elfogadasa-20210530
Regardless of any tests, cards, certificates etc., if a visitor shows any symptoms related to Covid at the entrance of the baths (high temperature etc.) they will be rejected from entry to the baths.
We hope that in a few months’ time travel and entry procedures will become more transparent and smoothly organised. Until then, thank you for your continued support to minimise the potential spread of the virus.
Hello,
Kindly note that from July 3, 2021 Budapest Baths, including Gellert Spa will no longer require visitors to show a Covid passport before entry. Visitors can attend the thermal baths and spas without a vaccination card / Corona virus passport.
Hello,
Can you give any updates of the reopening of Gellert baths?
When do you think it will open again? This summer? Fall? Before Christmas? Next year?
Any information would be much appreciated.
Hello Ulrika,
Unfortunately, there is no official date for the reopening yet as there are renovations at the moment, which might take up to a few months or may finish sooner.
We suggest you visit a different bath in the meantime as Budapest has several wonderful thermal baths including Szechenyi Baths another very popular spa in Hungary.
Have a great time in Budapest!
Hey, when will u be open?
Hello Kinga,

Hi, what constitutes a Covid passport in Hungary? Is it vaccination-only, or does it include testing? Thanks for your help!
Hello Katrina, at the moment proofs of vaccinations are fine, tests are not required. Hope we can welcome you at Gellert Spa!
Does that mean that a negative PCR test is not acceptable?
Hello Wolfgang,
at the moment only vaccinated guests are allowed. Thank you for your understanding.
