Gellert Baths: Mixed Pools / Saunas

Since January 1, 2013 Gellert Baths has been turned into a completely co-educated spa bath, where all the pools, steams, thermal facilities are open to women and men alike. Toilets and Shower rooms continue to be male and female only. If you wish to visit a thermal bath in Budapest where gender separated areas are available (mostly men only days on weekdays) you can visit Rudas Baths.

Gellert Spa Bath at Night

If you wish to use the thermal pools and bath facilities in the evening in Gellert Spa, you are welcome to stay in the building until 7 pm (pools need to be left 30 minutes before closing time).

For late night bath experience, you can visit Szechenyi Bath, whose outdoor pools (2 hot spring thermal pools and 1 cooler swimming pool) is open until 10 pm.

Gellert Spa & Thermal Baths on Public Holidays

If your Budapest visit is scheduled on a public holiday / national holiday in Hungary, do not despair, Szent Gellert Furdo is open even on holidays, in the last few years almost 365 days a year!
Please check the current opening hours for the upcoming public holidays, March 15, Easter, August 20, October 23, November 1, Christmas and New Year times before your planned Budapest visit). The general rule of thumb is that the opening hours might be slightly shorter (or the same as every day), but the ticket prices are like on weekends (somewhat more expensive than on weekdays).

  1. Are you open on sundays every week?

  2. Is Gellert Bath Budapest open on 1 January 2015? If so, what are your hours?

    • Hello Barbara, yes, Gellert Spa is open usually on Jan 1st. In 2015 the opening hours are from 10 am to 8pm (almost the regular opening hours, but opening a bit later in the morning). Most thermal baths in Budapest are also open on Jan 1, from 12 pm to 8 pm (Szechenyi Bath, Rudas Bath, Kiraly Bath, Lukacs Bath). We recommend buying online fast track tickets as the Christmas and New Year days are very popular among tourists.

  3. Is there a reason I cannot book for the 29th October?

    • Hello Gareth, you can book a bath ticket to Gellert Spa for October 29, but we have disabled dates for booking massage treatments between Oct 27 and 31, 2014 due to maintenance works in the VIP massage rooms. The pools and other thermal services are not affected by the maintenance works during this period. Thank you for your understanding.

  4. Will you be open on Christmas day? If so, what will your hours be?

  5. Are all your services available on Christmas day?

  6. I just tried to book for febuary and its saying theres no availability- is it not open then??
