Picture a big palace with a Roman style swimming pool, Art Nouveau thermal chambers filled with hot spring waters and steams, many corridors, and you will feel being in an artsy labyrinth. The gem of Budapest Baths. And since Jan 1, 2013 all its pools and facilities are open to both men and women (co-ed).
First time visitors in Gellert Spa Bath, especially tourists, find themselves in a big building where it is easy to get lost. We recommend spa guests, bathers & the hotel guests in Danubius Hotel Gellert to save the map of Gellert Spa on their smart phone, or simply print out the map to save some uncomfortable moments. Luckily the building is symmetric, so after the first visit, it is a lot more simple to find your ways.

Hi- I would like to know if you offer pregnancy massages?
Dear Ema,
thank you for your inquiry.
Unfortunately, no thermal bath in Budapest offers pregnancy massage in the baths to avoid any potential medical complications. Even if you are in absolutely perfect health condition with your baby, the bath management cannot take the risk of unexpected complications / urgent resolutions to keep you and your baby safe from harm. We are terribly sorry that we cannot spoil you when you would deserve the most.
In a similar vein, there are several pools in the baths which contain hot water (between 33 and 40 degrees Celsius), the upper end of which, is not recommended for pregnant mothers.
In short, massage treatment is not available for pregnant moms in Gellert Spa.
Hot thermal water is not suitable for pregnant moms.
During pregnancy please keep consulting with your doctor whenever you intend to visit public baths, shared pools. Pregnant women are kindly asked to consult with their doctor /OBGYN if they can bathe in the thermal waters in Budapest too, and what – if any – precautions they need to make before entering the pools.
All visit to the baths and its facilities are at the responsibility of visitors, including pregnant mothers. We apologize for any potential inconvenience. You will find that some private spas do offer pregnancy treatments in Budapest, even if not the major thermal baths.
Thank you for your understanding.
I had a very relaxing and enjoyable experience at Gellert baths. After a morning of sight seeing I arrived in the afternoon on a beautiful sunny day so made the most of the outdoor thermal pool, sauna and sun beds before a VIP massage and then spent the rest of the afternoon in the indoor pools, sauna’s and steam rooms. I loved the architecture and sense of history, considering these are public baths I think they’re very well maintained and everything was really clean. The massage was excellent, in a private area the staff were really professional. I did get confused trying to find my way around, was desperately thirsty and it took me a while to find the water fountains, not speaking Hungarian made it more difficult and confusing for me, even though signs were there, they didn’t seem very clear to me at the time. Apart form that, thank you for a lovely afternoon. I would come again but for a full day!
Dear Julie,
thank you for your kind feedback, we are very glad that you enjoyed your day in Gellert Spa. We hope we can welcome you back in the future in Budapest, the city of spas.
