Hello Veronika, the temperature of the indoor swimming pool in Gellert Spa & Thermal Baths is 26° Celsius (78.8 F), if you mean the long and big swimming pool with columns along the pool inside the bath. This place is called the swimming pool section where there is the big swimming pool, and a small thermal pool of 36° Celsius (96.8 Fahrenheit). they charge us around £30 to hire two towels, within around 10 minutes ” between leaving one pool to go to another” BOTH of our towels had been taken, they had completely disappeared & trying to get another towel from reception was impossible, the staff were VERY unhelpful, we we’re given a bed sheet to dry off with, & more or less told too bad you’ve lost your deposit. We had booked a whole day there, including lunch & massage, but it completely ruined our experience & we left in disgust. shame because we loved our Budapest experience until that day, I will be strongly un recommending Gellert baths in the future! ( STRONGLY RECOMMEND TAKING YOUR OWN TOWELS IF YOUR CONSIDERING THIS PLACE )
We are arriving in Budapest on Dec. 8th for a river cruise. We should be at the port/boat around 1PM. we would like to take the 2 People / Couples Harmony Aroma Relax Massage 60 minutes & Ticket & Cabin GB €128.56. I am concerned about making a time schedule for the massage. Do we need exact time for the massage?
Hello Ron, not only do you need exact time for the massage, but you will definitely need to book it in advance, as Dec 8 being a Sunday the massage rooms will be booked up by then. Please also add an extra hour to check in (e.g. a massage at 5 pm is with a check in time until 4 pm), get to the private changing cabins / lockers, get changed and be escorted to the massage room. Gellert spa bath is a big palace, so it takes time to get from one room to another, and also to sort out how the silicon wristband proxy watches work (which are the high tech waterproof bracelets that work as tickets as well as the keys to the cabins / lockers).
If your Budapest cruise is scheduled for 1 pm, we would recommend booking a massage in the evening hours, e.g. at 6 or 7pm just to make sure you make it in time. If you can arrive in the spa earlier, you can enjoy the thermal pools, sauna or steam rooms, get relaxed. When your muscles are relaxed you can get more out of the massage treatment. You can also schedule the bath visit for the following Monday on Dec 9, when there are fewer people in the bath (but booking in advance is still recommended).

Hello Julia, the hot spring waters help to relax the muscles, which is a good way to start your Gellert spa relaxation. After about an hour, a refreshing, harmony or manager massage can be more beneficial. Some prefer to have the massage first and then go to the pools, but it is more effective if you first let yourself get relaxed in the baths, and then have the massage therapy.
