Gellert Spa Baths on Budapest Tourist Map

Our website is a third party website specializing in online tickets and massage reservations in cooperation with Hungaria Concert Kft the official partner of Gellert Gyogyfurdo.
I had a really nice afternoon at your spa today which was completely ruined by the rudeness and complete lack of interest of members of your staff when I tried to report the exit turnstile wasn’t working properly and people were having to crawl under it.
The female member of staff I told couldn’t care less. I then tried to mention it and complain to another member of staff at the information desk and just got pointed to someone else.
It is such a shame that the rudeness of your staff ruined a lovely afternoon.
Hi,
Planning visit Gellert Spa while we are visiting Budapest. should we book online before arriving? Is the price the same? Most likely we are planning to on June 12 Friday morning.
2 ppl.
thank you for your help
Dear Carolina,
thank you for your inquiry.
In case you would like to have massage treatments as well, online booking in advance is highly recommended, as massage hours are limited. You can make your booking on the following page:
http://gellertspa.com/gellert-bath-massage
Prices are absolutely the same as on the spot.
Dear Mr Szusz, I am writing to tell you how disappointed I am following a visit this afternoon and also as an advisory to potential customers. We booked a day ticket with cabin for 5,500 HUF and once past the ticket booth realised the outdoor pool, wave machine and massage jet pools were all closed. Had we been informed at the ticket office we could have gone up the hill to the Rudas or Kiraly Baths instead. By the way the young man in the ticket booth practically threw some coins back at me with which I was attempting to pay.
My cabin, no 82 was disgraceful, with the number missing from the door, the plywood shelf warped and hanging off the wall unusable and unsafe. We found the place very scruffy and not at all as described on your website which positions the Gerrert as a premium product. Our experience was anything but. There were no spa guide leaflets in English and we only found one staff member who spoke sufficient English to help us find things. In all we spent an hour in the building, including most of it wandering about trying to find things. I left without even having a shower as the ladies shower downstairs was closed also for repairs. To cap it all we couldn’t exit the building as the machine which accepts the bracelets malfunctioned leaving a group trapped inside. I asked to speak to a manager and shared this feedback and asked for a refund as we certainly did not get the services and facilities we paid for, but was he was not prepared to offer us more than an apology.I have been to many spa experiences from Japanese onsen to the Blue Lagoon but this was in a league of its own. Not in a good way. Our time in Budapest is limited so I feel we have wasted both our money and our time. I would not recommend this spa to anyone.
Dear Susan,
we are terribly sorry that the bath services could not live up to
your expectations. We are striving to improve services and appreciate
any feedback from our guests, and certainly appreciate your time and
effort for sharing your observations about Gellert Bath.
The outdoor pools will open on Apr 22, as regularly in Hungary the
weather does not allow the baths to open the outdoor facilities
earlier.
Thank you for your observation regarding the state of the cabins, we
will do our best to improve the quality of the service.
We understand that the Spa – with its 12 pools and several massage
rooms, saunas and steam rooms – is much bigger than many guests expect
it to be. Hence we always recommend guests to take the map with
themselves when checking in the spa. We have a downloadable map of
Gellert Bath, and you can take your free printed map from the cashier or
the Help Desk where fast track entries are checked in.
Online the map is available with detailed information here:
http://gellertspa.com/gellert-spa-thermal-baths-map
We hope to welcome you back with improved services in the future.
Hi,
Is there a way to to do booking without pay-pal?
I’m facing a problem with paypal and it will take time to fix the problem….
Hello Shay, sorry to hear that. For online reservations we accept card payments too, but even for a card payment you would be asked to use paypal as an interface (without having to open, or own a paypal account).
Alternatively, you can try to book the services on our partner’s webpage: http://www.gotohungary.net/index.php?progid=GELL&partnerid=1124
I am leaving this feedback mainly for the benefit of other tourists possibly thinking of trying this place out, but also for the manager.
We visited this place on Saturday 10th January after a lovely day in Budapest. We had a lovely time in the baths and thought it was a great day. However, after leaving and arriving at the train station to return to Vienna where we were based, I opened my purse and was shocked to find ALL my cash stolen. This was nearly €200 and £25. Not knowing what to do I called the spa and told them my situation that someone obviously had access to my locker and had taken cash. The woman (and I know who she was – the blonde middle aged lady with short hair on the information desk) was so rude and almost acted like I was lying to her. She was adamant I’d lost it on the bus…a bus I’d never taken. She made the whole situation worse. I had just lost pretty much all our spending money for the trip and then had a horrible woman make it out like I was a liar. I broke down in tears and it completely ruined the day.
There are so many other reviews on the Internet (see trip advisor) about people being scammed and it not being worth it. If it hadn’t been for this incident it would have been perfectly pleasant but it ruined it and her response to me made the whole situation worse. Do not go here. The reviews are true and if you haven’t been affected you are lucky. Nothing else.
Dear Catherine, we are terribly sorry about your incident. We have forwarded your complaint to the spa management. Your complaint is being addressed. Thank you for your patience.
In general, we do not recommend bringing valuables to the spa, but if you should happen to, please use a safe that can be separately booked at a very favorable price.
Again, we regret to learn that you had money stolen from your wallet.
The bath intends to maintain high levels of trustworthiness. The lockers can be opened and closed with the randomly generated codes of the chip in the waterproof wristbands. These are personal codes for a higher level of security.
We hope that your visit to Budapest will be more satisfactory should you visit Hungary again.
Can pregnant women 6 1/2 months go into the waters with no problems?
Hello Elisa, unfortunately we cannot give a general guidance as each pregnancy is different. Please consult with your OB/GYN if they would suggest you visiting thermal waters without any complications. Have a relaxing time in Budapest!
