Gellert Spa is one of the most famous thermal spa baths in Europe, and one of the leading natural hot spring spa baths in Budapest, Hungary
Dear Guests,
Kindly note that Gellért Spa is currently closed due to a major restoration project. Based on current information, the spa is expected to reopen in 2028, however the exact reopening date has not yet been officially confirmed.
In the meantime, we would kindly recommend visiting another bath in Budapest, such as Szechenyi Bath or Palatinus Bath & Lido as an alternative option.
Gellert thermal pools, swimming pool, outdoor pool and spa treatments offer a great relaxation and entertainment all year round. Visit Gellert Spa Bath and experience high quality relaxation at a fraction of the costs you would pay in any western country.
Gellert Bath opened in 1918 offering medicinal water treatments using the same deep underground springs the Knights of St John used in the 12th century, and later on the Turks to feel the invigorating powers of the mineral rich waters.
Gellert Spa by River Danube Budapest
Gellert Spa is situated by the river Danube where panoramic boats carry passengers by day and by night. The building of the thermal bath is one of the many beautiful riverside attractions along the river in Budapest. To see available boat tours in the city you can check Budapest river cruise programmes and their daily timetables.
Come and visit our favourite bath in Budapest besides Szechenyi Baths: Gellert Spa Bath is the true gem of the thermal baths where you can easily spend a day, explore the numerous pools, get luxury treatments without having to feel crowded by other tourists. Spa and elegance await you in the Art Nouveau building of the almost hundred year old Gellert Bath.
Gellert Spa is famous for its lovely warm spring water pools, its architecture, its landscape, and also for its spa treatments, and pampering massage therapies at reasonable prices.
Gellert Spa Bath – Outdoor Pool
Kindly note that the outdoor pool at Gellert Spa & Thermal Bath—formerly the iconic wave pool featuring not only Budapest’s or Europe’s, but the world’s first artificial wave machine from 1927—has a gradually deepening design, ranging from shallow areas that may be suitable for younger visitors, to significantly deeper sections on the opposite end. – Temperature: 26°C, Water depth: 0.40 m – 2.75 m.
While the outdoor pool is typically open from the end of May through September, it may occasionally require maintenance on short notice. For this reason, we strongly recommend checking availability on the day of your visit, either at the entrance or with staff on site, as access to this pool cannot always be guaranteed.

Hi
I want to book for 1/1/2020 but I cant choose these day on your calendar
how can I book for that date ?
Dear Shrouq,
Thank you for your comment.
Unfortunately, there will be no fast track entries or cabins (changing cubicles) sold during the upcoming Winter Holiday Season (between Dec 24, 2019 – Jan 7, 2020) based on a managerial decision. Please note that the baths will be open, however, we kindly suggest that you go there early because tickets/massages will be sold on the spot on the first-come-first-served basis.

Hi, I want to visit the gallert thermal spa together with my boyfriend. Unfortunately I read somewhere that men and women have saperate Baths. Is this correct?
Hello Anne,
Gellert Spa welcomes both genders every day of the week.
Please find more details about this topic on the link below:

I would like to come to the pools and spa with my mother who uses a wheelchair, are both areas accessible? Also can I book pedicures on line? Thank you in advance.
Dear Marion,
It is not uncommon for people using a wheelchair to use the baths. Although not everything is wheelchair accessible, there are several parts in the spa that can be accessed for wheelchair users.
We warmly recommend a first hand blogger’s (solo backpacker wheelchair user’s) experience shared here, as there are many aspects of the description which are useful for wheelchair users visiting Hungary’s capital (and unfortunately, there are some negative aspects or room to improve too, admittedly):

Pedicure is only available to book on the spot.
Have a lovely time in Gellert Spa, and enjoy the thermal waters of Budapest.

Dear Susan,
yes, tickets are available to buy either with lockers or cabins (cabins are like small changing rooms, where you can get changed and store your belongings too securely).
